Preparing your child for BIG school
At Best Kidz ELC Southern Highlands, our Kangaroo room is dedicated to our 3.5-5 year old children. We have highly qualified early childhood educators with a range of qualifications, who provide a preschool program built around the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and the 5 learning outcomes of this Framework. It is our goal to ensure all children leave Best Kidz SHL with:
A strong sense of identity
The children are connected with and contribute to their world;
Children develop a strong sense of well being;
All children are confident and involved learners
Children are effective communicators.
Celebrating each child’s individuality
Along with the 5 learning outcomes of EYLF, Best Kidz SHL staff ensure each child’s strengths and interests are incorporated into our daily program. This is an essential element of the Framework.
Such practices ensure our environment is rich with opportunities for our children to explore and learn, in a setting that is exciting and supportive, with highly qualified and passionate educators by their side.
Learning through play in a gorgeous environment
Clearly, children are always learning and striving for new challenges, however this occurs individually. That is, each child will progress towards the EYLF outcomes in their own meaningful way, with assistance from the educators at Best Kidz SHL, and the aesthetically pleasing and enriching learning environments provided
At Best Kidz SHL, our program encompasses all areas of development to ensure each child can flourish in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments. We provide an abundance of opportunities for the children to choose activities they are interested in, and as a result learning occurs. for the children daily.
A fun-filled, varied approach to education
Our pre-school group enjoy a more structured day where children have the opportunities to participate in language and music groups, small group times where they are involved in highly stimulating and challenging experiences exploring concepts such as science, mathematical notions, creative language and general awareness of the world that surrounds them. We provide plenty of opportunity for reading and writing, and also value the importance physical activity allowing many opportunities for the children to develop such skills in our beautiful outdoor environment.
At Best Kidz SHL we encourage self help skills such as dressing themselves, taking responsibility for their belongings, and feeding themselves. A key part of our program is social development, and as such, we strive to provide children with the skills and confidence required to cope in large groups situations; the ability to ask questions; and to respond to adults…all essential skills when moving onto BIG school.
Developing social skills and working with parents
At Best Kidz SHL we encourage respect for others, and enjoy seeing friendships form. Our staff documents the daily learning experiences in our project folders, which is available at the end of each day for you to read when you pick-up your child, along with individual observations of your child. All families also receive a beautiful individual learning journal as a keepsake at the end of each year.
At Best Kidz SHL we know parent input is paramount to ensure our program is diverse and individualised, and as such, encourage any suggestions from parents, and regular discussions regarding your child’s development.
